The Matjhabeng Junior Council (MJC) has officially convened for its first sitting, marking a significant step in youth
leadership development within our municipality.
This historic session introduced the elected Junior Council, a platform designed to empower Grade 10 and 11 learners
from all 36 wards of Matjhabeng. The MJC is a non-political initiative dedicated to fostering leadership,
self-confidence, and civic responsibility among our youth. Through active engagement, the Junior Council will represent
young people, drive community-based projects, and promote active citizenry....
During the session, the Speaker of the Junior Council, Jnr Cllr Alannah Dexter, presided over the proceedings, which
included procedural matters, official reports, and discussions on key issues such as social media communication,
financial management, and fundraising strategies.

falsely claiming to represent both entities.
This fraudster is demanding payments into personal bank accounts and using aggressive tactics to pressure residents.
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
No individual has been authorized to collect municipal payments into private bank accounts.
All official transactions follow a verified and transparent process.
Ntiyiso Consulting Group is solely contracted to facilitate municipal revenue collection; however, all payments must be
made directly to the official Municipal Bank Account....
Ntiyiso Consulting Group does not collect payments on behalf of Mathabeng Municipality or any other entity.
If you receive a suspicious call demanding payment, do NOT engage-report it immediately.

The Office of the MMC for Special Services, Cllr. Monjovo-Xaba, in collaboration with her colleagues, joined
hands with the South African Older Persons Forum and the Peace Makers to host a special Valentine’s Day
celebration for senior citizens in Welkom on Friday, 14 February 2025.
The event was a heartfelt initiative aimed at honoring and appreciating the elderly members of the community,
recognising their invaluable contributions to society. Through music, dance, and moments of reflection, the
gathering created a warm and joyful atmosphere where the elderly felt cherished and included.
This celebration reaffirmed the commitment of the Matjhabeng Local Municipality to promoting the well-being and
social inclusion of older persons.

successfully repaired. Water supply has now been fully restored to the affected areas.

Matjhabeng Local Municipality has been notified by Vaal Central Water (VCW) of a water leak at their plant, originating
from one of the operational pipelines.
Additionally, there was a temporary failure in pump operations, which has since been resolved. However, VCW’s technical
team is currently assessing the leak and formulating an appropriate action plan.
As a result, reservoir levels are lower than usual, which may impact water supply in some areas. Furthermore, the
Municipality is also investigating a reported pipe burst/leak in Flamingo. A team has been dispatched to the site, and
updates will be provided as the situation develops.
VCW is working urgently to resolve the issue, and further updates will be communicated in due course.

Vaal Central Water has informed the municipality of challenges in maintaining adequate water flow through the plant.
Their teams are actively addressing the issue on the ground.
The Entity has reported that they are already seeing positive results from the control measures they have implemented
and expect to increase water flow this afternoon. In the meantime, a water tanker has been made available to the
Municipality to assist affected areas.
